1. A Vision For Clean Water, Troy $1000

Nonprofit group organized to provide knowledge and tools for affordable clean water by treatment and sanitation of water using BioSand Filters for school and homes in village of 90 in Nepal. This technology, using materials readily available, allows for sufficient amount of water for personal hygiene, cleaning and drinking purposes in a household. Over 1.1 billion people lack access to clean water and even more lack access to proper sanitation.
 

2. Mexico Mission Trip, First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham $2625

Fund would cover the cost of work materials for 15 participants in the 2010 Mexico Mission Trip. This would allow for greater participation in this life-changing experience for those who otherwise might not be able to afford this expense. Work materials are $175 per person. The materials will be used to continue construction of a secondary school in the village of Leona Vicario.
 

3. Second Mile Center, Detroit $500

The Center was organized by Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery of Detroit and maintains a clothing and food pantry, a day camp summer program, a Monday night program for families which includes a meal. Funding will be used to support the after school program held Tuesdays and Thursdays with snack and dinner, materials for teaching K-12 graders and specialty classes, uniform and supply costs for those who can't afford to purchaser them to attend school, and to offer a modest stipend for some tutoring and teaching.
 

4. Communities of Faith for Ghana  - Attica, Indiana $1200

Communities of Faith is a faith based group working directly with churches, schools, village leaders in Ghana. Primary partner is the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. Funds will be used to assist Christ Presbyterian Church in Akropong hold an Aged Program for homebound senior citizens in the area. Another part of the fund will purchase educational items for one of only two Blind Schools in Ghana for Braille type-set machines and Braille writing templates an stylus required to complete lessons. The School serves 300 children from ages 3-18 and 50 blind adults living on campus.
 

5. South Oakland Citizens for the Homeless, Royal Oak $ 500

This group operates a day care center, Welcome Inn, for the homeless in cold months from December - March, weekdays, 7.a.m.-7 p.m. out of the rented Unity Church in Royal Oak. Professional and volunteer services guide the homeless towards interdependent living. Funds will help pay salary of a Master's Degree Social Worker who provides the necessary case management services that puts each guest in touch with appropriate resources.
 

6. Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeastern Michigan $ 500

The Samaritan Counseling Center provides professional therapeutic counseling and educational services to all God's people seeking wholeness through emotional and spiritual growth. Our church is one of 38 sponsoring churches and provides space for one of four Satellite Offices. The funding will be used to adjust fee scale which allows fees based on client's income, and to maintain a separate fund for fee subsidy for low income clients.
 

7. Skyline Camp & Retreat Center $1800

Skyline's mission is to welcome and serve all, especially those in need, by creating sanctuary for experiencing God's creation, spirit, and unconditional love in a way that nurtures and transforms lives. Funds requested will aim to establish leadership training of the summer program director and other program staff to ensure they have the skills necessary to provide an incredible experience for all attending the seven weeks of summer camp.
 

8. Baldwin Center of Pontiac $800

Baldwin Center has been fulfilling its mission of feeding, clothing, educating and empowering the disadvantaged of their community since 1981. Nearly 30 services and programs are provided on a daily basis. Levels of serving meals, maintaining the clothing closet, needs of the after-school program have dramatically increased. The funding will provide operational funds to help continue the support services to those most at-risk in this time of great need.
 

9. Baby Basics of Troy Ministry $600

Baby Basics is a non-profit volunteer organization that provides and distributes diapers and kindness to poor families living or working in Troy who do not receive governmental cash assistance. Diapers are distributed on a no-cost basis twice a month for children under the age of three. On distribution days, at Northminster Presbyterian Church, a parent must attend the group program providing a sense of community and opportunity to connect with other services. This funding will be used only to buy diapers and will fund one baby for one year.
 

10. Variety FAR $ 500

Variety FAR provides creative arts therapy and recreation services for children and adults with mental, physical and/or emotional impairments. Programs and classes are offered in music, art, dance, ice-skating, gardening, cooking, swimming, bowling, hockey, teen and adult clubs. Private, semi-private and group sessions are available. Therapists must of course be paid to lead and direct these lessons and performances, and it is for this that funding is requested.
