Circles

We call our monthly small-group meetings CIRCLES to emphasize the enclosing nature of our friendships. Remember the childhood games where we all held hands? No one could ever feel excluded or left out when we were standing in a circle. It's the same today.

Circles at First Presbyterian Church meet once a month, traditionally during the third week of the month September through May. In Circle meetings, women have an opportunity to get to know each other more deeply than time allows on Sunday morning. Through service, prayer, and bible study, deep and enduring friendships develop - just ask any of the members of PW!

The lives and experiences of women have changed greatly in this country since the Ladies MIssionary Societies began meeting in the late 19th century for the purpose of supporting their churches' mission work. But some things have not changed: women still experience the world and scripture in fundamentally different ways from men. We may share the work more equally now, but our perspective on how to cope with the challenges we face is still essentially understood best by other women.

We gain deeper understanding of ourselves and each other as we explore and question scripture together.
